This course is aimed at those staff who have already completed awareness training regarding Safeguarding Adults, the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, who need to refresh their knowledge as part of their continuous professional development

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

- Define who they are safeguarding under the Care Act 2014

- Identify the different types of abuse and categorise the signs and symptoms

- Examine issues of confidentiality, sharing information, capacity, consent and choice

- Summarise the legislation and guidance they have to act and their safeguarding responsibilities

- Describe how to record all events appropriately

- Evaluate their knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 including the 5 principles of the Act, best interest decision making, IMCA\'s and the legal aspects of MCA

- Demonstrate their understanding of the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, including the \'acid test\' following the Judgment of the Supreme Court, P v Cheshire West
