Social Work Facebook Group Proving Massive Hit

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]A new Facebook group for Adult Social Workers has been set up by long time Social Worker and DoLSpro lead, Tristan Johnson. Tristan set the group up to give Adult Social Workers a voice. “I was seeing that a lot of Social Work’s online presence was geared toward workers in Children’s Services. I saw one post on another Facebook group that asked “what’s Adult Social Work?”. That was it, I knew we needed to change peoples perceptions.”

“There’s a lot of great Social Workers doing great things in Adult services, and that it is often overlooked. The group has taken off really well – we had hundreds of people join in the first day, and now it’s nearly at 2000 people. Reading the posts is great- there’s a real sense of identity. It’s nice to see other organisations such as BASW being involved in the debates. I think it will help a lot of practitioners and students alike”.[/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”Join the Adults Social Work Facebook Group” color=”warning” align=”center” link=”||target:%20_blank|rel:nofollow”][vc_column_text]Due to the hugely successful Adults Social Work Group, a Children’s Social Work Group has also been set up. It has been set up by those either working or those that have a number of years frontline experience working and managing  in Children’s Social Care.

Matt Hughes initiated the group due to his extensive experience working in the Children’s Social Care setting and after liaising with Tristan. Matt had this to say: “there are some excellent Facebook groups – such as the Social Work & Social work student Advice & Support Group and the Adults Social Work Group. However, there was obviously a need for a specialist group in relation to children’s work due to the fact that I kept on receiving messages from those working in the sector asking for assistance, guidance and support. In addition to this, we have also set up a Social Work Jobs and Social Care Jobs Facebook Group, which is proving useful to those after employment, guidance or support in applying for job vacancies.”[/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”Join the Childrens Social Work Facebook Group” color=”warning” align=”center” link=”||target:%20_blank|rel:nofollow”][vc_btn title=”Join the Social Work & Social work student Advice & Support Group.” color=”warning” align=”center” link=”||target:%20_blank|rel:nofollow”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
