Hosted at the University of Derby and taking place over 2 days in March (19th and 20th), this AfPP endorsed conference is ideal for professionals working in roles such as perioperative practitioner, health care assistant, students, managers and others working in the operating department setting. The conference is open to current students and alumni of the University of Derby, as well as those working in perioperative settings outside of the University.

Attendees can collaborate on topics influencing the changes in perioperative care through hearing from guest speakers, participating in poster presentations, simulated workshops and networking amongst the practitioners attending the event. This will aid learning about new products, impact on the delivery of surgery, anaesthesia and other medical advances.

A keynote speech will be given by Mona Guckian-Fisher of the international federation of Perioperative practice on accountability and liability with other topics covered by the conference to include:

  • Medication management
  • Infection control
  • National safety standards for professional practice
  • Theatre optimisation and professional leadership
  • Safer surgery for patients with dementia
  • Human factors in safer practice

For those wishing to also develop further understanding regarding the opportunities of careers in Perioperative practice, Andrew Lovegrove from Skills for Health will be offering his time to talk about the apprenticeships within the field.

A networking evening meal on the 19th March will also be included within the cost of the conference and will be held within the student union bar at our Kedleston Road campus.

The conference will commence at midday on 19th and finish at 5PM.

On the 20th the congerence will commence at 9am and finish at 3:30PM.
